CPM depends on member volunteers for a wide range of activities; and the board would like
to encourage all members to serve your association in some role.

This year’s Gaile Argiro Volunteer Award is awarded to

 Dan Lynch

The award nominee must have demonstrated exceptional commitment to volunteerism by supporting the activities of CPM in a recognized volunteer position. The nominee should have demonstrated exemplary leadership, creativity, teamwork, and hard work in their service to CPM. The nominee should serve as a model and inspiration to other volunteers. The nominee must have also demonstrated the ability to work in a collaborative manner with other CPM members, CPM board members, the CPM staff, or others.

CPM depends on member volunteers for a wide range of activities; and the board would like to encourage all members to serve your association in some role.   The exception this past year has been Dan Lynch.  Dan has been around even longer than Bob and myself, working in the industry with RCA, BAE Systems, and Raytheon, and has run his own consulting firm.   Dan today is on the board, but he did not start the year as a board member.   Dan stepped in for Marty Douchette, who, like Bob Loop took the regular in-person conference practice symposium and workshops and created CPMs Champions Series.  Again, taking advantage of Darrell’s technology, we started to run virtual 2-4 hour events starting in Dec 2021.  When Marty had to stop, Dan stepped up and volunteered to take the ball and keep the champions series running.  He finished that series and has continued to plan more events, including helping to set up our Agile Lunch and Learns.  We have since brought Dan into the Board, and he has officially taken on the position of VP of Workshops.   We have selected Dan because, like Bob, he played a critical role in keeping the association’s programming moving forward during COVID.

Congratulations to Dan!

Many of you may not have had the honor of meeting Gaile Argiro, CPM’s long time Executive Administrator. Gaile knew many of our members by name and served the organization for many years but unfortunately passed away in 2014. It is testimony to Gaile’s dedication to CPM that, from her hospital bed during her final illness, she was still trying to assist in the planning and organization of one of our annual workshops. It is for this dedication and loyalty that the CPM Governing board decided to name our new Volunteer Award.

Any nominee for this prestigious new award must be an outstanding volunteer who has provided service to the College of Performance Management over an extended period of time. This award is not for a one-time effort; rather, for ongoing manifestation of service over time by the nominee.

The nominee must have demonstrated exceptional commitment to volunteerism by helping support the needs of the CPM in a recognized Volunteer Position. The nominee should have demonstrated exemplary leadership, creativity, teamwork, and hard work in their service to CPM. The nominee should serve as a model and inspiration to other volunteers. The nominee must have demonstrated the ability to work in a collaborative manner with other team members, CPM members, CPM board members, the CPM staff and others.

In 2016, the CPM Governing Board has pleasure in announcing the maiden recipients of the Gaile
Argiro Volunteer Award:

• Marty Saia
• Andrea Nibert
• Barbara Phillips
• Bob Wasser

To understand the service these recipients have provided, please read on and join the CPM
Board in thanking and congratulating them.
